December 5th 1998
December 13th 1998
Payday has finally come around again so I've done the rounds
and picked up some more early Christmas presents for myself.
Good ol' credit zone comes into play again ;-)
I picked up the Ohlins rear shock for the bike now, seems to
have a softer action than the Showa. Bit of a killer fitting it
though as I thought the whole garage was going to come down
with the weight of the bike hanging from it, the beams were
creaking something cronic. My brother cut out my shock guard
for me as I wanted it meshed instead so you can see the Ohlins
behind it, looks good now with the rivets holding the mesh in place.

Seems a massive box compared to the shock, got to look good on the
shelf I suppose ;-)
I picked up the exhaust system for it as well, got hold of the downpipes
from an SP as they adapt the BP's 45/6mm to 50mm to allow the use
of larger tail units.

Here you can see the SP downpipes
that allowed me to adapt the system.
I used the new Harris pipes as they have 50mm pipes with the
exit
being a massive 65mm and nice carbon cans, their stickers sucked a
bit though so I slapped on some Agip ones which you can see in a
picture below.

I also stuck the sponsor stickers onto the bellypan as it is being left
plain carbon, I still need to obtain the Ducati Performance
stickers at some point to add after the rest of the panels have been
painted.

Oops left a rag in the picture ;-)
I'm using a chip from the Senna (chip model 062) which is a bit more
tuned and should sort out any flat spots in the power delivery, and also
help the bike perform better with the new pipes.
I am currently waiting to Ohlinize my front forks, and I will probably
look to do this around the end of December beginning of Jan. I need
to sort out the rest of the bolts and nuts on the bike as well and hopefully
will be able todo this at the Superbike show in Jan.
Still waiting for Harris to deliver my rear m.cylinder as well :-(
I e-mailed Harris recently to inquire about my caliper and it
popped up
next day, amazing that ;-) I've fitted it to the bike now but I haven't got
the new rear caliper yet due to funds so its not fully plumbed in yet.
I will use anodized bolts when I obtain some more later on so at the mo
its using the normal steel bolts to hold it to the frame.

I will probably get the Harris rear caliper so it matches the
cylinder and
not bother with the AP one. I will need to have a bracket
made up as well
so this will bump the overall price up unfortunatly ;-(
I have also lagged the exhaust pipes on the bike to keep the heat in and
also stop the pipes burning the carbon bellypan. I used Cool-It
by
Thermo-Tech which you normally find on race cars or on
turbo-charged
motors.

The first picture shows the downpipes meeting and the second is from
the back of the engine down to the meeting point seen in the first
picture, the exhaust is lagged all the way beneath the bike to protect
the bellypan.
This will probably be the last update for a while as I need to sort out
the bank before I go buying anymore goodies.
