I decided to pick up the tyres for the bike as this was stopping me finishing off the
front end,
I decided on the Pirelli Dragon Corsa's as these have been
recommended before on 916's
and I have spoken to others who highly recommend these tyres. I have mounted the
tyres on
the new rims and added the new discs and hugger on the front.

I have also fitted an engine breather by way of a Pipercross
filter which I have mounted
in place of the small tank which feeds back the fumes into the airbox. I used a 90
degree
alloy bend to mount it so it comes out sideways, otherwise it would foul the exhaust.

The filter seems to be made of a crumpled foil,
which I think is to aid cleaning. I will have to
see it dribbles anything out over the bike when
it is running, as that may be why it had a small
catch tank mounted in the breather system.
Well I managed to borrow the cash to cover the carbon bodywork and other parts I was
waiting for, you can see the bodywork and bits below. I've labelled the parts so it
is
easier to identify them.

1. The main bellypan in one piece (extra long bottom as on the racers to catch oil
spills).
2. The center front fairing to take lights and screen.
3. The side fairings (I have mounted them to the center front fairing).
4. The single seat unit.
5. The chain guard with the brake pipe cover.
6. The clutch cover.
7. The center vee piece (goes in the center of the bellypan).
8. The shock cover (rear huggers flap about).
9. The two air tubes which mount onto the airbox.
I still need to obtain the Dzus fasteners and some anodized bolts to hold the fairings
together, and a single seat mount for the rear as my Biposto one doesn't reach. I
also
need a new seat as well, most of the bodywork is drilled for me by Dill but any that
aren't
have been marked so I can see where to drill them. It seems that I'm missing the
side body
mounts on the bike which must have been attached to the old fairings which I didn't get,
so I'll have to check with Aye Gees to see what parts are needed to rectify this.
I'm having second thoughts about painting the bodywork now as it looks the bizz in
plain
carbon fibre weave, I may just add a few sponsor stickers and the normal 916 ones and
then just have it lacquered to bring up the shine. I would probably paint the tank
in some
kind of graphite black to match the carbon, although I'm still thinking about this.
I'm going
to ask a few mates to see what they think of leaving it plain carbon, although being seen
in
the dark by dozy drivers is worrying :-( but at least I won't have to worry about
radar guns ;-)
Well I've mounted the panels on the bike (had to order new mounts from Aye Gees) so I
can see what needs to be modified to get a good fit, I borrowed a couple of Dzus
fasterners
from a friend which allowed me to hook it all together. I reused the dual seat mount
for the
single seat without having to modify it in any way, so I can put it back on the dual seat
if
need be. I've mounted the clutch cover, shock guard and chain guard aswell.
I've also fitted the tinted screen and the mirrors to see how the bike shapes up, I'm
still
deciding what colour to paint it but will probably go for the normal Ducati red with a
pearl
effect in the laquer, still leaving the bellypan and numberplate locations carbon.

Its a shame I haven't got a carbon tank - can't have everything {;-(

You can see the carbon air-tube in this picture
I need to get a filter for the carbs as the normal
filter would have been in the tubes themselves.
JP do a nice one but its £70.00. I'll check around.

Here is the clutch cover, it does have marking to
allow it to be cut out like the racing versions, but
I think i'll leave mine solid.

Here is the chain guard, with the separate brake
line cover that unscrews.

Here is the shock cover that keeps the muck out
of the unit, I got this instead of the hugger as
it flaps around due to being mounted on one side
only.

Here is the Vee-piece which sits inbetween
the fairings and directs air over the oil-cooler.
I'm still awaiting the gold mesh as used in the hugger so I can mesh the rest of the
panel vents and inlets. I also need to order some decent Dzus fasteners (stainless).
I've got hold of an alloy rear subframe and the carbon undertray that sits under it
above
the exhausts, it's the main weight difference between the two models (Corsa/Biposto)
as the BP one is steel. I've fitted it to the bike as you can see in the picture below,
but
I now need to get a different mount for inside the seat as it now sits too high.
Another problem I encountered is that the cable for the ECU is too short now and will
not strech to the brain, I am going to see if I can get that part of the loom from the
Corsa
(single seat model) but if not then I will extend mine (fancied a bit soldering practise).

You can see the subframe and undertray in this
picture.

Here you can see the subframe fitted to the bike
and the brain mounted up at the back when it used
to be mounted further down towards the front on
the BP subframe, which is why now the cable does
not reach.

Here you can see the undertray up above the pipes.
Just a quick update, I managed to relay the loom in the bike so it reaches the brain
and
I only had to extend one of the sensors at the front to make it reach, rather solder
two wires than twenty!! {;-)
